Improved elite bluegrass blend. Dense, elegant appearance. Medium-fine texture. Requires regular care to maintain refined appearance. Does best in moderate coastal areas; avoid inland valleys and warm, arid regions. Requires well-drained soils and cannot tolerate salinity. Green year-round.

Lite sod is cut 60% larger (2 ft. x 4 ft. = 8 square feet) than other varieties that are cut into 5 square sq. ft. pieces. It starts as a mixture of seed, composted green waste, and bark chips spread about 1/2 inch thick on a plastic barrier sheet. Because the sod is grown hydroponically, Southland Sod is able to control the growth media, water, and nutrients very precisely to achieve optimum levels. This ideal environment results in a much higher plant density than field-grown sod production.
